A look into the life of a busy Etsy seller... With 7 children...

January 15, 2018

Oh yes! You did read that right. I DO have 7 kiddos to keep alive on a daily basis. And a fun Etsy shop to go right along with the craziness. I thought you might want to know a bit more about me and just how I do things. 😊

A little daunting for the faint at heart I know 😉. Some days are even daunting for me! 😖 I thought I'd just give you a little peek at a typical day for me around here.

A Typical Day

  • 6:00 - 7:00am - Get up! (Usually closer to 7 these days😴)

  • 7:00 - All kids get up & do their morning routines(You can read about those here.)

  • 8:00 - Get all kiddos into the car and take 6 to school ( We qualify for free lunch so they also get free breakfast. They don't actually start school until 8:30)

  • 8:10ish - Get home and feed my youngest son breakfast

  • 9:00 - 10:00 - Head downstairs to work!(I will show you The Jolly Owl headquarters on another post)

  • 11:30 - Break for lunch

  • 12:00 - Put my youngest son down for nap

  • 12:30 - Return downstairs to work(Maybe throw in some laundry. I have a weekly chart to keep me organized.)

  • 2:30 - Leave to pick up the 6 kiddos from school. If I don't get there that early then parking becomes a problem.

Once we are all back home, homework is started, instruments are practiced, and snacks are had. Occasionally I will finish up some work at this time if I have a heavy workload. Otherwise, I am helping kiddos practice or helping them with their homework.  Or honestly, just taking a moment for myself!

  • 4:00 - Hubby comes home!

I like to start dinner at 4:30. We usually eat about 5 or by 6 at the latest. (I meal plan dinners for the entire month. I will show you how in a different blog post.)

Now there are many many factors that throw off my schedule, like piano or violin lessons, church activities, grocery shopping(We occasionally need food 😉) and household chores & errands. I am a human after all.

  • 6:30 - Kids start showers(We have a routine for this too. It's a challenge to keep 7 kids clean!)

  • 7:30 - All kids go to bed.

Hubby and I spend a few minutes together just chatting or watching Youtube videos. Then he heads to bed, usually by 8:30 (He gets up with the sun!)

I sometimes go to bed then also, but most nights I can't sleep so I end up working on my laptop doing computer work for my Etsy shop!  My bedtime is usually more like 11pm.

I try to keep Fridays open for writing blogs, creating new products, supply runs or drafting emails. I do easy work mostly because my husband usually gets off early on Fridays, unless he is putting in overtime.

Life is a challenge most days. I have a toddler that keeps me busy all day while the other kids are at school. He is especially good at getting into or finding things he shouldn't. One step and one day at a time right?

Do you have routines for your kids? Are you a fellow #momprenuer or #Etsymom? I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment below.
