Hello!! My name is Malissa(YES with an A!). I'm a mom to 7 kiddos, and the face behind The Jolly Owl.  I run my small business in the basement of my house in Spokane, Washington.  #spokanedoesntsuck  My husband and I have one little miracle together, I have 2 beautiful step-daughters, and 4 sweet kiddies who I wouldn't trade anything for, from my previous marriage.

I started The Jolly Owl back in 2011, but at that time it was called Lil' Bundle of Joy. It was during my pregnancy with my oldest son that I got the idea to open up my own shop. I had received a few handmade baby blankets as gifts and thought that I could make these too! I spent many hours teaching myself how to sew, creating simple burp cloths and bibs, receiving blankets, and it was then that I purchased my very first embroidery machine.

My ultimate goal is to help you find that perfect toy that calms your baby so you can grab that morning shower, or have those 5 minutes of alone time, or heck! Even to just relax for 15 minutes! Being a mom is hard! But when your teething little one is screaming it can sometimes feel out of control. Over time, I have turned my specialty into creating sensory teething toys for babies, super cute plushies, and now home decor for the whole family!

I love to create items that bring joy to not only babies, but toddlers, children, and adults as well! Moms(and dads) of all ages enjoy my products because they are colorful, fun, and thoughtfully made with the tiniest of babies in mind. I also like to share what I have found to be helpful being a mom of 7 on my blog. Running a household with 7 kids is just about the craziest thing I've ever done.

I may just be the only mom you know that for one, has 7 kids, but also who doesn't drink coffee! Yep, that's right! I gave it up when I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on November, 28 2015. And oh man... If I can do it, you can too! 😉

Have a look around my etsy shop and feel free to send me a message if you have any questions! I'm here for you momma!
